Standards Tips

Now that the weather is getting nicer, spring fever is in the air.  This past Saturday VWOA held our monthly yard sales.  If you missed that, the next yard sale you can have at your house will not be until June. The first Saturday in May we will be having our bi-annual Rummage Sale at our Sports Park.  Permits for all sales (Yard or Rummage) are to be purchased at the office prior to.  You are permitted 2 yards sales a year, but the rummage sale doesn’t count towards this.  You do need to be current on assessments to participate in either.

Crime Report

4/13/13~Highpoint~Point Valley~ At approximately 7 am, several items were stolen out of resident’s garage while both cars were parked in garage and the resident was home.  Police were notified and report was made.

Please remember to be observant in your neighborhood. Report any suspicious activities or persons to the Bexar County Sherriff’s office. (210) 335-6000

Public Safety Tip

Please remember to talk to your children about Stranger Danger.  We have had a few incidents in our neighborhood where children have been approached by adults unknown to them.  Here are few reminders to talk to your kids about:

If they are approached by a stranger who tries to lure or physically pull them away, the best thing they can do is get the attention of other adults – whether that is by running to the nearest home, or making enough noise to be heard by someone, the vast majority of adults will help a child in danger.

Children should know their name, address, and phone number.

Use the buddy system, avoid walking anywhere alone.

Trust their instincts, if they feel they are being followed or something is not right, seek help immediately.

If a stranger approaches them, they do not have to speak to him or her.

Never approach a stranger in a motor vehicle – Just keep walking.

Do not accept candy or any other items from a stranger, or try to help a stranger look for a lost pet.

Never walk off with a stranger no matter what he or she tells them.

If a stranger grabs them, do everything they can to stop him/her from pulling them away or dragging them into his or her car. Drop to the ground, kick, hit, bite, and scream -“THIS IS NOT MY DAD/MOM” or “FIRE”. Do whatever it takes to attract the attention of others who can help them.

If you see graffiti or vandalism in the Villages of Westcreek, please report it to the office at 679-8761.

Mintco, the subcontractor for AT&T will need access to certain backyards. Over the next several weeks, Mintco crews will be working in the Villages of Westcreek. The crews will need to access backyard easements so crew members will be leaving door hangers. Should you receive one, we ask that you please make arrangements or accommodations for the crew members to have access.

Once the work is complete, they will mend any damage caused to your lot during this process.

If you, the homeowner, have any questions you may call Oscar Hernandez with Mintco at 210-634-9055.
