LOW IMPACT – SENIOR CHAIR ASSISTED FRIENDLY CLASS
LOW IMPACT – SENIOR CHAIR ASSISTED FRIENDLY CLASS
The Low Impact classes will help you improve posture, balance, strength, coordination, and flexibility. The exercises can be done in a chair or standing. When we get out of the chair to work on balance you can stay nearby or hold onto the chair for assistance. Tuesday we work on balance and posture. Every other Tuesday we work walking heel to toe over objects and stepping up onto and over curb size obstacles. Wednesday is strength and we use resistance band of various resistance levels. Every other Wednesday we work on getting onto the floor and back up either using a chair, wall or using our bodies for assistance. Thursdays are for cardio and intervals. We slowly work out from a steady pace cardio to intervals that will spike your heart rate. If you have a condition that requires you to state at a steady heart rate you can continue to perform the cardio exercises through the short burst intervals. I always advise the class when we are about to perform interval exercises. Stretching and proper warm-up are a part of every class. This class is friendly and welcoming. Hope to see you at Low Impact.
All exercises can be done sitting or standing.
- Tuesday – The class centers on improving balance and posture. Very slow and controlled movements that will challenge balance and improve posture. Everyone as always can go at there own pace. Accommodations can also be made to modify the exercises.
- Wednesday – This is our resistance day. Bring a resistance band or pair of weights you are comfortable using throughout the workout. We start slowly warming up the muscles and increasing the heart rate in order to start using our resistance equipment. I have extra resistance bands and weights if anyone needs to borrow them.
- Thursday – No weights or bands are needed. We carefully and slowly prepare our muscles and heart rate to do some intervals. This can also be a cardio day for anyone who would like to maintain their heart rate steady throughout the workout.
We end every class with a good variety of stretches to help us reduce soreness and keep our muscles flexible.
